Stephen just got splashed on the starboard pontoon! Ariana and Allison are staying drier amidships.

After we checked in at the airport, we had a few hours to kill. Trellis Bay, with its artists' colony, is a 5 minute walk from the airport. The sign on the little outboard is amusing: "Windsurfing Lessons, Trellis Bay CyberCafe"
bvi2005bl - 207
These beautiful worked-iron balls contain flares which are lit for special occasions.

Airport runway on left, Fat Hog's Bay behind (above) it, then Buck Island. Behind and to the right of Buck Island is Maya Cove, Sunsail's marina.

Brilliant sunlight through the clouds: Brewer's Bay on the north shore of Tortola.

Jessica's feeling pretty good, too!
bvi2005bl - 29
Ross keeps watch on the port pontoon.
bvi2005bl - 3
Banane flambe a la Pieter. Stephen sure has his eye on it!

Very spacious galley on this catamaran; table seats all 9 of us comfortably. Allison, Ariana, Andrea, Stephen, and Kathy eat breakfast.
bvi2005bl - 40
Ariana and Stephen have their "morning faces" on; Jessica's hair got bigger each day from the humidity ;-)
bvi2005bl - 41
Electrical panel; improvised "glove box". On the cat, we didn't have to stow things so carefully before sailing. The dark area to the bottom left is the pontoon: two and a half cabins and two heads each side!
bvi2005bl - 42
Pete needs his morning coffee; Ross looks suspiciously at his yogurt.
bvi2005bl - 43

bvi2005bl - 44
View from inside the galley; another beautiful morning in The Bight at Norman Island.
bvi2005bl - 45
Inside the galley through the sliding glass door (!), we see the edge of the cockpit.
bvi2005bl - 46
Close-up of the three-master.
bvi2005bl - 47
Our catamaran was named the Dolly Grace, but we called her the Black Durgon, after a cool-looking fish. Here we are at the Indians, just about to snorkel.
bvi2005bl - 48

bvi2005bl - 49
Pieter's already got the island spirit on day 2, coming out of our night mooring at Marina Cay.
bvi2005bl - 5

bvi2005bl - 50
Sunbathing on the trampoline was a very popular activity. Here's Andrea, Ross, and Stephen.

Andrea and Stephen are framed by the galley portholes. Stephen is in the process of getting his face sunburned.
bvi2005bl - 59
Main and jib are reefed. Wind was gusting up to 30 knots.
bvi2005bl - 6
Pete and Jessica off for a snorkel. This time, the area right around our mooring in The Bight was the best snorkeling ground of the trip!
bvi2005bl - 60
Pelican Rock and the Indians, with Tortola in the background.

bvi2005bl - 70
Our cat from the water. Not sure who the bathing beauty in the trampoline is...
bvi2005bl - 71

bvi2005bl - 72

bvi2005bl - 73
Wet suits hanging out to dry. We had 2 swim platforms, but only one surviving swim ladder.

bvi2005bl - 76
Ross with innovative new "'do".
bvi2005bl - 77

bvi2005bl - 78
Ariana showing the drink of choice on this trip: water! We went through far fewer sodas on this trip than ever before.
bvi2005bl - 79

bvi2005bl - 8
I love this shot of Allison!
bvi2005bl - 80
Stephen is also up on the latest fashions. And here you can see the result of falling asleep in the sun!
bvi2005bl - 81

bvi2005bl - 82
A definite art shot -- note the reflection!
bvi2005bl - 83
Andrea does a pretty good Julia Roberts imitation!
bvi2005bl - 84

bvi2005bl - 85
Passing the caves at Treasure Point on Norman Island. These caves inspired R.L. Stevenson's "Treasure Island". Great snorkeling.
bvi2005bl - 86

bvi2005bl - 87
Looking back into The Bight.
bvi2005bl - 88

bvi2005bl - 89
Pieter and Stephen. The sun was so wonderful.

Photogs, get your cameras!
bvi2005bl - 90

bvi2005bl - 91

bvi2005bl - 92
Line 'em up: Stephen, Ross, Andrea, Allison hold on in the open Atlantic, and watch for flying fish.
