Beta Photos

We have selected here a baker’s dozen of photos (hover over a photo to see the caption, click to see full-size image) from the hundreds we have from her lifetime. She died October 4, 2007 after fourteen years of wonderful life with us.

Beta was the best dog we could have imagined. She was great with adults, kids, infants, and other animals. She would prefer to fetch a ball than be petted, but was wiling to put up with any attentions foisted upon her. She loved to travel in the car, always happy to be on another adventure. She loved to swim and to play in the snow – she always became a puppy again at each snowfall. She also liked to ride in boats. Generally, if we were doing something, she wanted to be included.

If you want more pictures than these, you can find them on picasaweb.

There are also three movies of Beta posted on google video and youtube:

I remember you training beta as a puppy, and watching her play in your yard. And I remember her a month ago, wanting so much to be with you when we visited, and being friendly to all your visitors, including the little girls.

    Ciao, Beta!

What a rich life you and Beta had! I am so sorry for your loss 🙁

We had the pleasure of Beta and her family visiting us in South Carolina as well as seeing her on her home turf in Lexington. What a great spirit! She will always be in your thoughts.

We share with you warm memories of a trusty and cheerful friend.

From the sound of it, she should be renamed posthumously to FCS doggie or even Golden Master Doggie, though that might have given her the wrong idea.

We never told you, but when we came to Ithaca we were actually visiting Beta, not you guys. She was a great dog and will be missed.

It was nice to see her in her younger days in the photos and vids.

Beta was the greatest, actually the final “bug-free” version of pet dog (should have promoted her name, LOL… She patiently put up with all three of my kids walking her when they were very young. Beta was even patient and responsive to their childish versions of one of her favorite refrains, “Gopi-gopi-gopi,beta-gopeeeee!”

Thanks for putting this up BLKK family. So many wonderful memories. I particularly enjoyed seeing the picture of Beta and Frankie and remembering the fun night Benjamin had playing with the two of them.

I will really be thinking of the four of you. Animals are special and it is very hard to lose them. The fact that Beta was extra-special won’t make it any easier.

    Miss you guys.

Although I saw Beta most often in her geriatric years, it was clear to me that your love and compassion had resulted in a patient and devoted companion. I hope that your memories will bring comfort and that you will consider once more hearing the patter of little paws. It was a pleasure to have known her!

I was Beta’s dog walker in East Lexington last year. Walking Beta was a wonderful experience. We had a nice neighborhood walk which we did in all types of weather. Beta was always friendly and eager to go outside, though it sometimes took her some time to wake up from her nap.

Beta and I both enjoyed the flock of wild turkeys we would frequently encounter at the far end of the walk, especially around this time of year, in the fall. They would mill about in the suburban yards, and fly up to rooftops and tree branches in their strange, heavy way. Beta was always pleased on these walks, and watched the unusual birds with great interest.

I will miss Beta very much, and I am happy I had a chance to walk her during her long and happy life.
