We took a canoe trip on the upper Charles river in Newton on October 1st. Amazingly nice considering how close to the city and the highways.

We drove to Brandeis to see Usen Castle, which we'd seen from the river. It's a small-scale model of a real Scottish castle, apparently, and is now used as a residence hall (lucky students!).
