Kayaking

A nice fellow named John from Halifax was the guide on our biking trip in Italy back in 2009. He helped us in setting up our itinerary for this trip (pointing us to the Sail Inn, arranging our bike rentals, and giving us a lot of helpful hints), and also arranged a full-day kayak outing through his sometimes-employer, Freewheeling Adventures (John is a marine hydrodynamics researcher by trade). Because the wind was expected to be pretty high that day, he took us out of the Lunenburg back harbour and up to Hell's Rackets, a bunch of islands and rocks just offshore. Really beautiful!

We saw plenty of wildlife, including bald eagles, lots of great blue herons, and a group of seals. We stopped on Indian Island for the wonderful lunch packed for us by the Freewheeeling crew, and then headed back - upwind - to our launch point. Our muscles told us the next day that we'd had a workout!
