We had a lovely summer weekend, full of the things we enjoy: outdoor activities, music, food, and friends.
Saturday we rode our bikes up to Lowell to see the Lowell Folk Festival, the largest free festival in the US. We saw three bands, two really excellent, and one very interesting. In addition we saw a demonstration of western versus eastern guitar styles, including a Korean woman playing a native stringed instrument. Lots of good food there, too. Kathy especially liked her Baklava sundae. We rode back to work off the calories, 32 miles total.
Saturday night Rick and Gitte came over for a crab grass picking party (no fooling) accompanied by Wrecks on the Rocks and followed by burgers and ribs on the barbie.
Sunday we headed off for a nice kayak paddle from the Charles river boathouse to Newton Lower Falls. Beautiful weather and some wildlife - turtles and swans. Then dinner of fresh cod from Whole Foods followed by drinks and desserts at Ken & Elaine's.
Can't do a whole lot better!
