Bath

We arrive in Bath and stayed at Pratt's Hotel. Less tony than the Hilton Olympia in London (which I recommend against), but charming, perfect location, and very nice and helpful staff. Right in the heart of things, so we could hit the Boot's in the shopping area for some aloe cream, get Ross a SIM card for this phone, and head off to the Roman Baths. These are restored from the originals that were there, and it's a fascinating (though quite long) tour.  Then off to the modern spa for a lovely evening of soaking, steaming, and eating. Finally topped off with great "puddings" (desserts) at Brown's restaurant next to the Abbey.

Next morning Ben stopped by the Bath records office and located the school that his father, Raphael, had attended in his first few years as a German refugee during WWII. It was high on the hill, affording great views of Bath below, but was otherwise unremarkable.
