This simple dish takes a while to cook, but tastes great.
- Half a large head green cabbage, chopped into 1″ (roughly) pieces
- Three strips of bacon
- Spices (see below)
Brown the bacon in a large frypan (with a lid), then remove, leaving the bacon grease in the pan.
Cook the chopped cabbage in the bacon grease at low to medium heat, stirring regularly, for about 2 hours.
Chop the crispy bacon and stir into the cabbage before serving.
To change up the flavors, you can add spices while the cabbage is cooking. I’ve used celery seed and paprika with good success. Will experiment further over time.
